Political foundations (and Think tanks) have become increasingly visible policy actors in European states and in the European Union. Taking into consideration theory, experience, research and openness to new ideas, they function as a public space for deliberation, rigorous research and dialogue in search for new and better social and developmental models.
For the contemporary situation even more important function is their role to attract, translate and articulate “many voices” of civil society and non-governmental sector to be presented to political decision makers. Already well integrated into social-political reality in many European countries Slovenia and other SEE countries are slowly realizing the potential political foundations are offering to more knowledgeable political decision making.
The conference will launch an in-depth debate on relations between political foundations and political parties, bringing together high level political decision makers and representatives from political foundations and think tanks from European Union, SEE and Slovenia.
